Sandstone Lakes - Caboolture

Sandstone Lakes has many attributes:

On the doorstep of one of Queensland’s most important marine parks and boating paradises, the beautiful Pumicestone Passage Minutes from famous Bribie Island, itself largely protected as a National Park, and offering the first surf beaches north of Brisbane.

Midway between the capital and Caloundra at the start of the iconic Sunshine Coast and located in Australia’s 10th fastest growing local authority. It offers stylish living. It offers convenience. And it’s a place for fun and relaxation away from the humdrum of city life.


Location
Ningi, the site of our community, is part of Caboolture Shire.

Less than a hour’s drive north of the Brisbane CBD 
About the same distance south of Caloundra 
Just 4km south of Bribie Island and Pumicestone Passage; and 
15 minutes from Caboolture, major city in a burgeoning southeast Queensland growth zone. 




Facilities 
Shopping amenities are extensive
Largest retailing centre in Caboolture shire is Morayfield Shopping Centre that provides one level shopping across 58,646 sqm.

It has seven major retailers, six mini majors, and more than 150 specialty stores and 3,034 car parks, 2,795 of them undercover.

Morayfield Village, the neighbouring centre to the main building offers 17 specialty stores covering a further 6,359sqm.

Local shopping is located also on Bribie Island at Bongaree and within Caboolture.

Transport & Infrastructure
The shire’s infrastructure projects recently completed or underway will improve transport, water supply, sewerage, stormwater management, public parks and land for community purposes. 



Included are: 

A new $54 million ‘community heart’ project involving a state of the art cultural and education facilities close to the Town square in Beerburrum Road, within the CBD 
A 2-lane Caboolture northern bypass on the D’Aguilar highway 
Widening of the Bruce Highway to 6 lanes between Boundary Road and Uhlmann Road 
Widening to 4 lanes of the Burpengary Caboolture Road commencing 2009 
Duplication of the North Coast Rail Link from Caboolture to Beerburrum in 2007-2008. 
Recreation
The shire offers a wide range of activities including water sports, rainforest walks, golf and equestrian activities in a proposed new $3.5m State equestrian centre at the Caboolture showgrounds.

Comprehensive educational facilities
There are 29 state primary facilities, eight high schools, Caboolture Campus of QUT and the Brisbane North Institute of TAFE. 
A large number of childcare and kindergarten facilities also service the area. 
Live here, work here says Council
Caboolture Shire wants to become a complete, self-contained community where two out of three workers living there also work there.

The Shire’s Corporate Plan 2005-2009 sets objectives to stimulate the economy with this in mind over seven to 10 years.

It lays out seven strategies to promote business and job opportunities in that time such as providing land and infrastructure, actively seeking new businesses, promoting greater opportunities for them and helping businesses to work better.



The council wants to build Caboolture as a centre with market influence that is attractive to both businesses and homebuyers.

Communities 
A 2.2% growth each year until 2026.
From 134,338 in 2001, the population is expected to be 210,231 by 2026 – rising at an annual rate of around 2.2%.
At Ningi, the site of our Sandstone Lakes community, families with children living at home comprise 57% of the population of 2,429 and the median age is 41. 
The housing market at Ningi shows an impress 23% a year rise between 2001 and 2006, and rents have risen 10.1% a year over the past five years.
