Location
A magical coastal strip
The Southern Sands precinct in the city of Onkaparinga is one of South Australia's most beautiful coastal strips, south of Adelaide.
From Cactus Canyon, and the sheer cliffs of Sellicks Beach in the south, the precinct extends about 8 kilometres to the northern side of Aldinga Beach near Snapper Point. And within that distance is a firm sandy beach more than 6km in length.
The aquatic reserve known as the Aldinga Reef is a popular dive location at the northern end. Behind the beach, the Washpool and Aldinga Scrub Conservation Park cover about 300 hectares and are significant for their natural assets and Aboriginal cultural heritage.
New lookouts are underway or planned for Main South Road above Sellicks Beach and at the intersection of the Esplanade and Gulf View Road together with a new entry statement for Sellicks Beach Village.
Sellicks Beach is popular for swimming, boating, windsurfing, fishing and local events.
Boat launching facilities are available and flathead, mullet, snapper, tommy ruff and whiting are caught regularly.
From the lookouts, the views are spectacular to the sea, the northern coastline and the Willunga scarp and eastern hills.

A Green Community
Recycled water will be delivered to properties by a system of dedicated mains.
Upon application to SA Water by the plumber/builder/owner, each property will be provided with a recycled water connection from the recycled water main and a drinking water supply connection from the drinking water main.
Water pressure in the recycled water main will be slightly less than the pressure in the drinking water main. This will impact on the pressure of water for irrigation systems connected to the recycled water system and therefore needs to be considered when designing the system.

Transport
Sellicks Beach has easy highway access to the southern industrial zones of Lonsdale and St Marys, and to the Adelaide CBD. Just to the north of Sellicks Beach is access to the Southern Expressway, which provides easy access to major shopping at Marion as well as the Flinders University - Medical Centre at Bedford Park. Plus access to many other southern suburb facilities along the way.
Shopping
Good local shopping includes Aldinga Central featuring Australia Post and a library as well as retail outlets such as supermarkets, bakery, pharmacy, butcher and takeaway stores.
Recreation
An abundance of sports facilities, local historical sites, and local events such as the Sea and Vines, Celtic and Almond Blossom festivals add to the many things to do.
Education
Willunga Pre School Centre, Aldinga Beach Primary, Willunga High and Tatachilla Luthern College are among the leading educational facilities. TAFE Onkaparinga has a campus at nearby Noarlunga and Flinders University Campus is just 40 minutes drive away.
